Originally from Pennsylvania, Elizabeth Koch has been the Principal Flute of the
Edmonton Symphony Orchestra since 1987. On top of orchestral playing, she has been a soloist with the Edmonton Symphony and the Alberta Baroque Ensemble. As a chamber musician, she really enjoys playing in the Edmonton Symphony Woodwind Quintet and the Top Notes Flute Quartet.
Elizabeth has taught students aged 6 to 87 and presently teaches at the King’s University and privately at home. In the past two years, Elizabeth has sponsored flute players from Edmonton and Calgary to give masterclasses to local flute students. Grateful for all the help from the Edmonton Flute Association in this endeavor, she hopes these classes will strengthen the camaraderie in the Alberta flute community as well as inspire flutists of all ages and abilities to keep playing.
In her spare time, Elizabeth volunteers with her community league, tries to grow
flowers, and takes care of her cats who were strays.
