Originally from the beautiful Muskoka area of Ontario, Tyler Cairns is the Principal Bass Trombonist of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
He has performed with the Calgary Philharmonic, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Fjord Cadenza Festival Orchestra in Norway. He is an alumnus of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and the Banff Festival Orchestra.
Tyler holds an Artist Diploma from the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Music from Wilfrid Laurier University. His principal teachers include Jeffrey Hall, Gordon Sweeney and Joseph Castello.
A dedicated teacher, Tyler maintains a private studio from his home where he enjoys passing on what he has learned.
His interests away from the trombone include watching baseball, visual art, and woodworking.
