Edmonton-born oboist Eric Davidson is entering his second year at the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studies with Katherine Needleman and Philippe Tondre.

In 2026, Eric was named a finalist in the Norma Hooks Young Artist International Oboe Competition, with the final round taking place in July at the International Double Reed Society Conference in Oxford, Ohio.

This summer, he attended the Domaine Forget International Music Academy in Charlevoix, Québec, and will make his debut at Switzerland’s Verbier Festival as a member of the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra.

Eric is also the inaugural fellow of the Curtis-Wharton Partnership, an interdisciplinary initiative exploring sustainable approaches to the future of classical music, in collaboration with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

A native of Edmonton, Eric previously studied with Beth Levia and served as Principal Oboe of the Edmonton Youth Orchestra. He is grateful for the support of the Edmonton community, the Winspear Fund for Advanced Classical Music, and the Anne Burrows Music Foundation. Eric is pleased to return home to perform with the Edmonton Recital Society.
