Born in San Francisco in 2004, Serena Wang began piano studies at the age of four, and made her first public concerto performance with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra at the age of six at the China National Centre for the Performing Arts, playing Haydn Piano Concerto in D Major.

Concert appearances include working with the China Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Vancouver Symphony and Singapore Symphony. Conductors she has worked with include Zubin Mehta, Charles Dutoit, Christoph Eschenbach and Long Yu.

Serena made her debut with the New York Philharmonic and London Philharmonia playing Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy at the age of thirteen. She appeared with the New York Philharmonic as part of their 2024 Lunar New Year celebration concert. She was invited back to the Guangzhou Symphony to play Liszt Concerto No. 2 with Charles Dutoit in 2023 and back to Shanghai Symphony playing Bartok Concerto No. 3 with Christoph Eschenbach in 2024. She was reinvited to the Hong Kong Philharmonic playing Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini during December of 2024.

In 2016-17, Serena toured North America with the China Philharmonic, Yu Long conducting, and made her debut at Italy’s International Piano Festival of Bergamo and Brescia. She also had debuts with the Singapore Symphony, and the Israel Philharmonic where she toured to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa with Zubin Mehta after her first collaboration with him in 2015 with the Shanghai Symphony.

Serena’s chamber music experience includes collaborating with Benjamin Beilman, Nancy Zhou, Ning Feng, and Gary Hoffman.

Serena made her recording debut with Channel Classics at the age of nine featuring works by Mozart, Chopin, Shostakovich and Tan Dun.

Her formal training began at age six with the Professor Zhaoyi Dan. She continued her studies under the guidance of Meng-Chieh Liu and later with Yoheved Kaplinsky at the Juilliard School.

Since 2020, Serena has continued her studies under the guidance of Mr. Robert McDonald and she is currently pursuing her undergraduate studies at Curtis Institute of Music.
